Elbaite (Tourmaline) and Quartz on Albite (var. Cleavelandite) Dara-e-Pech pegmatite field, Dara-e-Pech District, Kunar, Afghanistan 10.0 x 6.8 x 5.1 cm (3.94 x 2.68 x 2.01 in) This striking combination specimen features a stocky Elbaite crystal measuring 4.9 × 2.9 centimeters, prominently centered atop a sparkling matrix of white Cleavelandite. An unusual growth relationship distinguishes the piece, as the Elbaite has partially enveloped a sharply terminated Smoky Quartz crystal that emerges subtly through the Tourmaline's termination. The Elbaite is translucent and displays rich dark green zoning through most of the crystal, transitioning to deeper green and a dusky blue layer across the termination, features that become especially apparent with backlighting. Scattered across the Cleavelandite are numerous petite green Elbaite crystals, providing a lighter secondary accent that echoes the primary crystal and better balances the specimen's overall display. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base. From the collection of John Warn [AFG17525a]. HID09710052018 © 2026 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
