Elbaite on Quartz with Albite and Schorl Grotta d'Oggi, San Piero in Campo, Campo nell'Elba, Livorno Province, Tuscany, Italy 7.4 x 6.1 x 6.1 cm (2.91 x 2.40 x 2.40 in) This attractive combination specimen features Elbaite, Quartz, Albite, and Schorl in a well-balanced assemblage. Rising from a Quartz matrix are four glassy Elbaite crystals with pale green coloration that become increasingly transparent toward the terminations, the largest measuring 1.0 centimeter in width. Oil-black Schorl crystals are included within the Quartz matrix and are especially visible from the reverse and underside of the specimen. A blanket of lustrous white Albite covers much of the matrix, creating an appearance reminiscent of freshly fallen snow. From the collection of John Warn [ITA20127f].
