Elegant 12th C. Korean Koryo Stoneware Vessel
East Asia, Korea, Kingdom of Goryeo (Koryo), ca. 12th century CE. A beautiful wheel-thrown glazed pottery vessel of a characteristically simple yet elegant form comprised of a ring base, an elongated globular body leading to a short, gently tapering tubular neck, and a carinated mouth with a flared rim. The glaze on this example is a matte red-brown and gives a textured appearance to the vessel. An attractive example of utilitarian Korean artistry! This vessel comes with a vintage wood and silk lined storage box. Size of vessel: 6.68" W x 10.25" H (17 cm x 26 cm); size of box: 9" L x 9" W x 11.25" H (22.9 cm x 22.9 cm x 28.6 cm)
