Elena Irving (20th C.) American, Bronze Sculpture

This is a signed bronze sculpture by Elena Irving. It is mounted to a wood base and titled on paper on the bottom "Helping Hands; Chamula Indian Family" and dated 1972. It is also numbered III - V and signed "Irving 72" on the base. Elena was born in Queens, New York, and married and moved to Mexico, where she exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. She has lived in Beverly Hills since the 1980's and done a series of bronzes entitled "Street People" and "Mother and Child", among others. She has worked in in oils, watercolors, and pastels, and is a published poet. The base is 10 7/8 x 11 3/4 in wide and the sculpture is 17 1/2 in. tall.
