Eleven English George IV and William IV Sterling Silver Soup Spoons, Earls of Sefton and Dikes of Norfolk Crests, by William Chawner II and Hayne & Cater, London, dated 1827 and 1837

Consisting of 11 soup spoons, with fiddle handle and thread pattern; five spoons hand engraved with Earls of Sefton crest (A Chapeau Gules turned up Ermine and with a plume of peacock feathers proper); six spoons hand engraved with Dukes of Norfolk crest (Lion statant gardant with tail extended Or). All pieces marked with kings' head right, lion passant, leopard head, date letters for 1827 and 1837, and makers' hallmark for William Chawner II and Hayne & Cater, London on the handle back. Total weight 22.24 toz.

Earls of Sefton, Molyneux family, a noble family, which treces unbroken male descent from William The Conqueror since 1066.
The Duke of Norfolk is the premier duke in the peerage of England, and also, as Earl of Arundel, the premier earl. The Duke of Norfolk is, moreover, the Earl Marshal and Hereditary Marshal of England.

Condition: Good, some tarnish and polish residues, some swear commensurate with age and use.
