Beautiful work on canvas of 77 x 46. Canvas was recently cleaned and has a new layer of varnish. E P van Bommel explains once more on the back that it is Veere is in Zeeland and that he is affiliated with a royal association for fine arts in Holland. Label is great! Once auctioned off by Sotheby's. Elias Pieter van Bommel was a pupil of the national academy of Amsterdam and of the slightly older Amsterdam landscape painter George Andries Roth. Initially, Van Bommel was influenced by his master landscapes, later he went on to painting delicately detailed cityscapes with lively scenery. He was inspired in cities such as Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Amsterdam. He also made study trips through Belgium, Germany, France and Italy.
