Elisabeth Collins, British 1904-2000 - Card-players, c.1930s; gouache on paper, 36.5 x 54.5 cm (ARR) Exhibited: England & Co., London, Elisabeth Collins, 11 December 2001 - 26 January 2002 Note: Painter and sculptor Elisabeth Collins studied at the Royal College of Art where she was taught by Henry Moore and met her husband Cecil Collins. Her work was inspired by folklore and fantasy, creating works in a seemingly naïve and dreamlike style. During the years of the Second World War the couple lived in the artistic community at Dartington in Devon with American artist Mark Tobey. Her works are now in the collections of the Tate Collection and the British Museum.
