Sovereign production resumed in 1962 after no coins were struck in 1960 or 1961. Bearing Mary Gillick’s laureate portrait of Elizabeth II, the issue continued the Royal Mint’s supply of new Sovereigns for the international gold market.

Graded NGC MS65, the present coin is a well-preserved mint state example of this Gillick issue.
