- Elvira SIRIO - Born in Reggio Calabria in 1954.
Graduated in mathematics, she was first a teacher and then a school director.
Passionate about art since she was a girl, she followed studies that apparently distanced her from this world, until she finally decided to fully embrace her passion.
For many years he attended the "Libera Accademia" of maestro Paolo Raffa in his city and at the same time courses and masters in various locations in Italy. The meeting with the master Roberto Ferri was fundamental as it brought her closer to a painting she had always aspired to.
He then became passionate about sculpture following the master Mohammad Sazesh in his studio in Carrara.
Finally, he perfected his skills at the Academy of Art in Florence.
In 2019 she signed in Rome together with 12 other artists of the Manifesto of Effectism, a pictorial movement founded by the master Franco Fragale.
In 2020 he joined the International Academy of Modern Art in Rome
A multifaceted artist, never conventional or repetitive, she rejects any predefined scheme, casually ranging from classical figurative to modern, from abstract to informal, from symbolism to conceptual.
-- By Vittorio Sgarbi --
The task that Elvira Sirio has set herself is to create emotions. The modeling of matter into creatures and subjects of his imagination, with particular attention paid to the female world, leads us to talk about Metamorphosis. With the half-woman, half-reptile sculpture we find ourselves faced with a magical being, which enhances the bond between woman and Mother Earth through a serpentine representation which, for cultural reasons now rooted in the common imagination, inspires a certain discomfort . The change is linked to the divine (of which the heterochromia of the eyes is symbolic) , but perceived as something sinister and not very reassuring. Sirio is incredibly current: how is woman seen today and what powers do she have?
