Elvis Presley's Personally Owned 0.80ctw Diamond, Onyx and 14K Yellow Gold Ring Used in "This is Elvis" From the Jimmy Velvet Collection W/Extensive Documentation and Publicity Photo - This ring was personally owned by Elvis Presley and was made by Elvis' Memphis jeweler Lowell Hays. The ring is crafted of 14k yellow gold with a 14mm rectangular onyx surrounded by approximately 0.75ctw full cut diamonds. This ring was eventually acquired by Jimmy Velvet, who was Elvis' friend and would go on to create the Elvis Presley Museum, the only museum in the world which is licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland. The ring was loaned by Jimmy in 1981 for use in the Warner Bros documentary film, This Is Elvis, in which it was worn by Johnny Harra and David Scott. The ring comes with a photocopy of an original letter from Harra dated 9-12-80 confirming that the ring was worn by him in the film. Other documentation includes: a photocopy of an original letter from Lowell Hays to Jimmy Velvet dated 1978 confirming that the ring was owned by Elvis, a certificate of authenticity from the Elvis Presley Museum signed by Jimmy Velvet, and a letter of provenance from a collector who acquired the piece from the 1994 Elvis Presley Museum auction. The letter details the collector's account of a trip to Memphis during which he visited Lowell Hays' jewelry store and recognized the ring, and identified it by his stamp on the inside and gave him a copy of the original bill of sale to Elvis. The ring also includes two emails from Lowell Hays regarding the ring to another collector who later acquired the ring, a copy of Lowell Hays' original stock card with stock number "119" matching the number on the inside of the ring (with original envelope and letter from Hays), and a letter from Priscilla Presley. The ring will also come with a studio-issued publicity photo picturing John Harra wearing the ring. This is a fantastic piece of Elvis Presley's history with superb provenance. Ring top measurements: 20.5mm x 17mm. Ring size: 9. (WEIGHT: 16.3 grams)
