Elvis Presley RIAA Gold Award for "Elvis" - This RIAA "floater" style gold award commemorates the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the RCA Victor Records long-playing record album, "Elvis". The album was released as the soundtrack album for Elvis Presley's 1968 television special of the same title, released by RCA Records. The album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200; along with the TV special, it revitalized Presley's career after years of diminishing commercial and critical success. It was certified Gold on July 22, 1969, and Platinum on July 15, 1999, by the RIAA. The offered award was created in the early to mid-1980s based on the style.
