[ translate ]

Elvis Presley's Personally Owned "EP" Tiger Claw and 9K Gold Necklace W/(3) Letters of Provenance - This tiger claw pendant necklace was owned by Elvis Presley. Elvis wore a few variations of these tiger claw necklaces both on stage and in his personal life throughout the 1970s. "Tiger" was Elvis' Karate name given to him by his instructor Kang Rhee, and tigers were a symbol of strength to Elvis and one of his favorite animals. The pendant contains a tiger claw in a 9K gold frame with "EP" initials at the top, hanging from a thick 9k gold rope chain. The necklace will come with a handwritten letter of provenance from Lamar Fike, who was one of Elvis Presley's career-long entourage The Memphis Mafia. The letter from Fike states in part, "This tiger claw pendant that Elvis owned and wore for many years was one of his prized possessions." The piece also comes with a letter from Elvis' stepbrother David E. Stanley on Fingerprints of Elvis exhibition letterhead, which states, "Because of his love for tigers, Elvis acquired this tiger claw pendant. He wore it both on and off stage." The necklace also includes a third letter from Greg Page, who acquired the piece from The Fingerprints of Elvis Museum in the UK. Measurements: pendant-2" long, chain-24" long.
