Antique (Authentic) Emile Galle (French 1846-1904) Multi-Colored Cameo Art Glass Vase. Depicting very finely detailed flowers throughout. Measures approx. - 13" high x 5 1/2" diameter. The French glass artisan Émile Gallé (1846-1904) took over his parents faience and crystal manufacture in Nancy and specialized entirely on the production of beautiful pieces of glass. Inspired by floral forms, he experimented with new techniques of coloring and shaping glass. Works by Gallé are famous for their fusion of highly technical execution with great creativeness. The family manufacture was run until 1930. He was a major influence on the Art Nouveau movement. The origin of the name Art Nouveau comes from an interior design gallery in Paris, called the Maison de l'Art Nouveau, which opened in 1895 and was an outlet for decorative creations by Emile Gallé as well as American artist Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), and French designer and architect Eugene Gaillard (1862-1933), and glass and jewelry designer Rene Lalique (1860-1945).
