Emilio Borsa was born in Milan in 1857, to Paolo Borsa, professor of drawing, and Regina Bianchi, sister of Mosè Bianchi and aunt of Pompeo Mariani. To his father and then to his uncle Mosè Bianchi he owes his first artistic training. He attended the Accademia di Brera, following Francesco Hayez’s courses. He devoted himself mainly to landscapes and genre scenes, even if he did not disdain the art of portraiture. Size of the pastel without frame: 28 x 38 cm. Origin: private collection.
