Emma Mendenhall was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and through her aunt, philanthropist Mrs. Larz Anderson, she was introduced to the burgeoning artistic community of Cincinnati at the turn of the century. Mendenhall studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under Frank Duveneck, and later with Jules Lefebvre at the Julian Academy in Paris. She was known for impressionistic watercolor paintings of landscapes and flowers, as well as scenes from her extensive travels. She exhibited her work in Boston, New York and Baltimore, in addition to the Paris Salon and the Art Institute of Chicago.

- slight toning to paper; discoloration along sight edge particularly to the upper right corner; nicks and abrasions throughout the frame. Dimensions 29.75" W x 24.5" H x 1.0" D
