English 19th century tortoiseshell fan. The monture squelette is carved tortoiseshell, (uncommon) pierced, carved and encrusted with gold and silver foil, the hand painted leaf is an allegory of love with romantic figures in a garden, this may indicate that this is a wedding fan, circa 1770, approx 50 x 25 cms, housed within a glass case.
