English School (19th century), A Pair of Pendant Portraits

oil on board, unsigned, circa 1843-1846 period Winsor & Newton mill-board label, presented in period gilt composition frame.
Sight size 10 1/2 x 8 1/2 in.; Board 11 x 9 in.; Frame dimensions 17 1/2 x 15 1/2 in.
A Victorian age pair of three-quarter length portraits of a young man and woman, likely husband and wife. Each sitter is depicted in an upholstered chair, with one arm resting on a table. The woman wears a lace cap with floral decoration in her hair, while a book and vase of flowers rests by her arm. The man is well-dressed in a black suit with white shirt and vest, with a forest green linen draping the table to his right.
