Cecil Beaton and the Duchess of Windsor, 2 June 1937

Cecil Beaton had a close relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and was invited to photograph them in June 1937 the day before their wedding at Château de Candé, near Tours, France. The current lot shows an intimate moment taken by Beaton's assistant on that day; Mrs Simpson rests in the sun on the steps of the Château while Beaton takes a photograph.
