He was a multifaceted and versatile artist, capable of working with both painting and engraving, murals, stained glass, theatrical scenery, sculpture and other techniques. He belonged to artistic groups such as Lays del Círculo de Sant Lluc, with whom he signed the “Black Manifesto” in 1949, and the group Ada. Planasdurá made his solo debut at the Galerías Alfa in Barcelona in 1943, with a work with an expressionist accent. However, later it will be defined within a geometric abstraction of strong chromatic intensity. He worked with polygonal shapes of flat colors, delimited by straight black lines. Less rigid than Mondrian and softer than the kinetics, his art has a clear spatial dimension that gives a certain sense of depth to the flat forms he uses, as in the piece we are presenting. In 1974 he was awarded the City of Barcelona Award. Planasdurà is represented at the Paul Klee Museum in Bern, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei, the MACBA in Barcelona, the Patio Herreriano in Valladolid and the Contemporary Art Museum in Madrid.
