Large collection of ephemera from the Theresienstadt Ghetto and camp organized in an album. Contains bills, postcards, certificates, cards, and documents produced in the ghetto between 1942-44.
The album was probably prepared by a prisoner of the ghetto who preserved any document that appeared to him/her of value in preserving the memory of the Shoah. There are 7 ghetto bills in good condition, valued at 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 krona. There is a ghetto vaccine booklet from 1942. Two work exit certificates from 1942. One employee card for the Electricity Division in 1943. 12 postcards from the camp and its environs (some cut). Two staging orders from 1944. Two transit certificates from the ghetto’s Judenrat in 1944.
Total of 37 items taped on 10 leaves. Various sizes and conditions.
Rare and important collection, difficult to gather so many things together in one place.

Pages detached, tears. Signs of use, tape in a number of places.
Theresienstadt was one of the first camps established by the Nazis. At first it was used to imprison German Jews, and then as a propaganda ghetto to fool the international community. In fact, despite the better conditions prevailing in the ghetto relative to the other ghettos, the vast majority of those who came through its gates perished during the Shoah. Hyd.
