The sculpture was produced using the lost wax process in the ARA art foundry in Altrandsberg. Each individual piece is first cast in wax using a hollow casting process. The entire surface is worked over and then embedded in refractory material, heated in a kiln so that the wax melts out, then the molds are fired for several days and thus prepared for bronze casting. The bronze is heated to around 1200° and poured into the molds. After the casting has cooled, the molds are destroyed, which is why it is referred to as "lost wax casting". The bronze cast removed from the mold is then washed and blasted. This is followed by welding, careful grinding, milling and chasing in around three repeated passes until the desired appearance is achieved. The sculpture gets its final character through the art of patination. The production requires the highest level of craftsmanship and skill.
