[ translate ]

Extraordinary, rare, antique Bochara. This rug was knotted by Ersari nomads from the Beshir region. Beshir is a source of extraordinary and very good rugs. It lies in the north of Turkmenistan near the Uzbek border. These rugs are called Bochara, after the town on the Silk Road in Uzbekistan. Also known as Bukhara. The Ersari nomads took their rugs there to sell them. Ersari nomads throughout Turkmenistan and live as far east as Afghanistan. Most Bochara rugs are from Ersari nomads in Afghanistan. But this one is not. This one is of better quality and was made 2000 km further north. Different Ersari nomads. A rug with a rare beauty. Also a different colour than the Afghan Bochara rugs. Have a look at the beautifully finished head ends as well. At the bottom - special - an extra border with Kufic script. Genuine 19th-century rug. Pristine edges and head ends. Plant-based dyes were used. Beautiful abrash in the wool. Please view the detailed photos.
