Ersari Decorative Hanging
South Turkestan, c. 50 x 154 cm, about 1880, long panels such as the present one were manufactured without back part and used only for decorative purposes, as animal trappings on festive occasions; central field with ashik-like tree decorations in alternating colours and patterns, with coarse knotting and strikingly beautiful main border; this piece is in very good state of preservation with full, soft pile wool, all side finishes are complete and original.
