Erwin Wurm is one of the defining Austrian artists of the present day. Since the 1980s, he has developed a distinctive body of work spanning sculpture, photography, performance, and drawing, in which everyday objects, human bodies, and social conventions are—often humorously—thrown off balance. His famous "One Minute Sculptures" transform the body itself into a fleeting sculpture, combining conceptual art with a unique sense of absurdity and irony. Wurm’s exploration of volume, proportion, and perception engages with key questions in modern and contemporary sculpture. At the same time, his work enters into a dynamic dialogue with the artistic positions of Franz West and Martin Kippenberger, as well as the performative strategies of the Fluxus movement. Humor, exaggeration, and the deliberate subversion of the ordinary serve as artistic tools through which Wurm questions consumer society, body image, and the bourgeois way of life.
PLEASE NOTE:
The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights and platform fee. In the case of normal taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13%, for photographs 20%, is added to the sum of the highest bid, the buyer's premium and platfrom fee. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
