Esaias van de Velde (baptized Amsterdam, May 17, 1587 – buried The Hague, November 18, 1630) was a Dutch painter, engraver and draftsman belonging to the Dutch School.

He was the son and student of Hans van de Velde (Antwerp, 1552 – Amsterdam, 1609) . He is also said to have been a student of Gillis van Coninxloo (III) and David Vinckboons. [1] After the death of his father he moved to Haarlem, where he was registered with the Guild of Saint Luke in 1612. He was also a member of a chamber of rhetoric in Haarlem in 1617 and 1618. On October 10, 1618 he was registered with the Hague painters' guild. In The Hague he worked with Bartholomeus van Bassen and Pieter Anthonisz. van Groenewegen, he provided architectural pieces by Van Bassen with figures.

Van de Velde was a teacher of Jan van Goyen, Pieter van Laer, Jan Martszen de Jonge and Pieter de Neyn. He also left at least two sons, Esaias II van de Velde (1615-before 1681) and Anthony II van de Velde (1617-1672) .

Viewing is of course possible. We also have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. The etching has water contamination on the upper right side. We also use restorers from the trade organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this, we would of course like to hear from you.
