PAIR OF RELIEFS, late 16th century Spanish school San Juan and San Pedro Carved wood with some remains of polychrome. 53 x 30 cm and 53 x 28 cm. DESCRIPTION: male characters dressed in robe and mantle, in front position, solemn attitude and powerful anatomy. Classical mannerism that had great development in Spain, specifically in the north of Castile and Basque area in the late 16th century. ICONOGRAPHY: Saint John (San Juan) is identified by the eagle that accompanies him to his feet (head is missing) . Saint Peter (San Pedro) is identified with a beard, bald, in his left hand with the tablets of the law and in the right hand that has been lost, he would surely hold some keys. SCHOOL: Spanish school, Juan de Ancheta circle. Northern Castilla, Basque Country and Navarra from the late 16th century. The images are a very important part of the description. Work in good condition, with normal signs of aging depending on the age of the piece, it is missing several parts that have been lost, as shown in the photographs. It retains remains of polychromy, although almost all of it has been lost. Each panel has a discreet wooden frame. The piece needs custom packaging, included in the shipping costs.
