Introduction:
This work from the 19th century is presented for auction. XVII belonging to the Spanish School, probably Andalusian. The work in question represents Saint Ignatius of Loyola in a meadow and an inscription describing his initiation into the Society of Jesus.

Iconography:
Saint Ignatius of Loyola is shown as one of the main saints of the Catholic Church as a result of his important attribution to it and his deep faith.

This saint was first viceroy of Navarre and a gentleman, a warrior. After being wounded in battle, he dedicated himself to research and study of ecclesiastical doctrine, a fact that developed in him the love of the Christian God.

Initiator of the Society of Jesus, he will be named a saint in 1622 along with such important figures as Felipe Neri and Teresa de Jesús.

In this work we can see an effective faction, wanting to highlight its warrior past. His hard look connotes his seriousness and knowledge.

Two very contrasting tones are contrasted in the work. Firstly, we would have a clear sky under a gloomy landscape of earthy chromaticism, which blends in with the fabric of his habit.

In the upper left part the symbolism IHS (Jesus Savior of Men) stands out, generally used by the entire church as a sign of devotion to Jesus Christ, in the Christian religion considered the Son of the living God.

The historicist term that describes the lower part of the work reads like this:
St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Aconpania religion of IHS lived. (I don't understand the rest) .
This writing is the least virgin area of the painting, since Barcelona Art Gallery wanted to preserve the writing and restoration measures have been taken for its care and protection.

The work is in good condition, with some slight flaws and signs of age, it presents some restoration. (the chromaticism of the lower part has been restored)
The photos are parte of the description.

From our private high-period collection.

It will be delivered in professional packaging, certified and insured to everyone. (Shipping costs are indicative, they will have to be discussed with the auction winner, depending on their preferences)
