Blade exhibits bright polish with exceptional frost etching displaying clear military panoplies, spread winged eagle, bold US lettering and crisp maker mark for Ames Mfg Co Chicopee Mass at the ricasso with minor superficial dark spotting. Cast brass guard features pierced US motif and deeply detailed floral scrolls, retaining substantial bright original gilding throughout the hilt, pommel and backstrap. Black shagreen grip shows well preserved pebbled texture securely bound by complete double twisted brass wire wrap. Steel scabbard body remains firm, complete with gilt brass throat, middle band, drag and matching maker address stamped into upper mount. Full length 38.5 inches, blade length 32 inches.
