"Ho Chi Minh was well known for his belief in physical exercise accompanying a child’s education. The Party recognized this discipline as integral to the productivity and future of the country. This naive work expresses the Party line well; the older child at the front of the poster is setting the example to the younger children to be active, exercise, and follow discipline. The children’s daily exercise routine takes place in front of their school. The older children wear the red communist scarf while the smallest child has yet to make the grade and earn his scarf. It is a well-balanced and pleasing poster designed to engage children in physical activity" (Deborah Salter).
