Genesis is the first book of the Jewish Tanakh, the Samaritan Pentateuch, and the Christian Old Testament. It is an account of the creation of the world and the beginnings of human history, inspired by God's Spirit

A genizah (Hebrew: גניזה gənīzā) is a walled-up cavity for storing discarded Jewish liturgical writings. Torah scrolls that were no longer readable or other texts that were no longer used were stored here in a locked place. Texts that contain the Tetragrammaton or other names of God should not simply be thrown away. This is how important documents from Jewish liturgy and Jewish history have survived.

The most famous genizah is in Cairo and was discovered in 1890 during a renovation of the Ben Ezra Synagogue, which was built in 882. In a separate cavity under the roof, which could only be reached via a ladder, were found 200,000 documents from the year 800, such as The Book of Wisdom (Old Testament) in Hebrew or the famous Damascus script, which was later also found in Qumran marriage certificates and letters that provide information about the siege of Jerusalem (Crusades) from a Jewish perspective.
