Experimental Antique Belgium Conversion Pistol
an antique engraved hexagon barrel on a late 18th early 19th c. Belgian pistol converted to Breech Load. Appears to be approx. .22 caliber. The breech hammer has studs to attach a firing pin, or perhaps was designed to shoot an rear facing pinfire cartridge. Looks to have been converted by a smith from percussion or flint. Very early conversion to the Breech load - Possibly an early experiment by Casimir Lefaucheux and his son Eugène who created one of the 'earliest patterns of metallic cartridge firearms.' , through their developed of pinfire cartridges and pinfire weapons circa 1830-40.
