24" (65cm) bisque socket head French doll incised on the back of the head in a scroll "F.G. 10" with closed mouth and molded tongue tip between the lips, a nicely highlighted and shaded mouth, blond eyebrows and lashes, a deep dimple in chin, and pierced ear lobes. She is on her original fully jointed French wood and composition body with straight wrists, in overall good condition with original patina, with only minor typical age wear, most notably on the hands and lower arms. Although she is marked in a scroll, at first glance one would assume she might be the earlier "block letter" model, as the facial features resemble this more than the later doll, soon to marked with a scroll; thereby this example is obviously a transitional model. She is wearing a pink cotton, silk, and lace dress is 1890's style, with a brass pin on the collar, antique underwear, brown above-the-knee knit socks, and white canvas shoes circa the 1920's. The wig is honey colored human hair, and she comes with an elaborate velvet and silk bonnet with applied cloth flowers. On the forehead, there is a very faint V-shaped crack of two hairlines emitting from a point on top, almost unnoticeable, but it can be seen when a light is inserted into the head cavity. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 24" x 9" x 6".
