Inscription: lower left signed in the printing plate: "F. Piranesi Del.Sc.". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Trépied de Sphinx en bronze, trouvé à Herculaneum".

Condition: Good condition. Isolated pale foxing recognisable on the sheet margin. Small rust stain and discoloured, probably imprinted foreign body(?) in the centre of the image. Paper not neatly scooped lower left. Browned and somewhat soiled along the upper edge of the sheet. Impression of a once overlying print recognisable in the image.
