Publisher's green B cloth (linen-like grain) with blind-stamped front cover titles and gilt spine titles. Original second issue dust jacket with the title of the book on the front cover in black. A tight, square copy with minor soiling to the boards, light wear to the extremities, and slight fading to the spine cloth. Ownership signature and gift inscription to front endpapers. Chipping to spine and flap fold ends of the jacket, affecting "THE" in the title and the "S" in "SCRIBNERS" on the spine. Two short splits along the flap folds, the longer of which measures three inches. Significant brown tape repairs to jacket edges, which have bled through to the front of the jacket. Very good.
