[ translate ]

United States, New Jersey, Newark, ca. 1920s to 1950s CE. Maker's mark of F and F Felger Inc. on screw-back of each. A stunning pair of gold clip-on earrings, each set with an ovoid, red and white glass cameo of a woman in profile. Facing in opposite directions, the women are identical to one another; each shown from the chest up wearing an open coat over a bodice with luscious locks of hair piled atop her head and a lengthy drop earring dangling at the side. Each earring features a tubular, gold border surrounding the cameo with 6 decorative orbs, as well as a screw-back in order to be clipped to one's ear. Size of earring (both the same): 0.7" W x 0.8" H (1.8 cm x 2 cm); size of cameo (both the same): 0.6" W x 0.7" H (1.5 cm x 1.8 cm); gold quality: 61% (equivalent to over 14 karats); total weight: 6.6 grams

The verso of each pin of the screw-backs displays the maker's mark of "FFF" flanked by angle brackets, which represents the prestigious jeweler F and F Felger Inc. from Newark, New Jersey. Known for their fine craftsmanship, they supplied jewelry to companies such as Tiffany and Co. and Cartier from the 1920s to the mid-20th century. No longer in business, their pieces are highly sought after by the discerning collector.
