FABERGE - ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SILVER and ENAMEL LARGE SERVING SPOON
This is a beautiful gilt silver and enamel cloisonne serving spoon from the late 19th century during the Imperial Period in St. Petersburg, Eastern Europe. The finial is adorned with a geometric cloisonne pattern in blue, white, and red hues, creating an exquisite focal point. The spoon features a twisted handle that connects to a deep teardrop-shaped bowl. Even the backside of the bowl is elegantly covered with cloisonne in a scrolling foliate pattern.
HALLMARKS: The neck is stamped '84' in square which indicates the silver content and 'HP' for Hiskias Pendin, FABERGE workmaster - please see the information below.
ASSAYER: ‘AF’ in Cyrillic for Aleksandr Frans Fan-der-Flit (St. Petersburg, 1882-1894) and ‘1887' for a year.
CONDITION: In very good condition considering its age, with no visible damage or repairs. For additional information, please refer to the pictures.

Hiskias PENDIN:His birth certificate says Hesekil Pontinen, but he never used that name in St. Petersburg. He and his children officially changed the name to Pendin and announced this in the official papers - workmaster mark HP. …In 1864, Peter Carl Faberge embarked upon a Grand Tour of Europe. He received tuition from respected goldsmiths in Germany, France and England, attended a course at Schloss’s Commercial College in Paris, and viewed the objects in the galleries of Europe’s leading museums. He returned to St. Petersburg and married Augusta Julia Jacobs. For the following ten years, his father's trusted work master Peter Hiskias Pendin acted as his mentor and tutor. Upon Pendin's death in 1882, Peter Carl took over the business and was joined by his brother Agathon Faberge.
