F. A. M. A Artisan Artistic Maiolica Factory - ASCOLI PICENO

Very rare pair of hand-painted plates from the F. A. M. A factory in Ascoli, a factory born from the ashes of the more famous Matricardi factory. The male character is undoubtedly Raffaello Sanzio, while we have not been able to identify the female character. The pictorial quality is very high as is typical of the products that were made by this truly rare factory to find on the market.

PERIOD: this manufacture has been active since the end of the 1930s, these examples could therefore be from the early 1940s.

BRAND: manufacturer's mark in green on the back of the plate; on one of the two plates it is written backwards compared to the figure on the front (photo 5) .

DIMENSIONS:
-Raffaello plate: diameter 23. 5 cm.
- Dama plate: diameter 23 cm.

CONSERVATION: both plates are free of restorations and breakages. They show signs of wear on the back, due to the hooks that were used to hang them on the wall.
