FANG, Gabon. Hardwood, patina from use. Blacksmith’s bellows with two hollowed-out air chambers, the bellows receptacles. Late 19th–early 20th century. 54x33 cm. (traces of wood-boring insects). Provenance: Part of a collection of objects gathered in situ in the very early 20th century by Laurent Schlüssel, a colonial consulting engineer (according to family tradition).
