American Federal Gilt and Ebonized Looking Glass. The large molded round frame having its original convex glass mirror set in with a beaded mahogany liner, and an ebonized gilt American Eagle in crest, on rocky perch. The base with leaf and foliate carving. Late 18th or early 19th c. Coastal MA, probably Boston, Salem or Newburyport. 29 1/2" diam frame, 20 3/4" diam mirror, 52" tall overall. Very good condition, missing one sphere, repair to one wing.
