Der österreichische Maler Felix Albert Harta studierte an der Technischen Hochschule Wien Architektur. 1905 ging er nach München und wechselte zur Malerei. Sein Lehrer an der Akademie war Hugo von Habermann. Er begab sich auf Studienreisen nach Frankreich, Belgien, Spanien und Italien und stellte 1908 im Salon d’automne aus. Danach lebte Harta in Wien und nahm am Ersten Weltkrieg als Freiwilliger teil. Gustav Klimt riet ihm, sich als Kriegsmaler beim k.u.k. Kriegspressequartier zu bewerben. Im April 1917 wurde er dort Mitglieder der Kunstgruppe; Einsätze an der russischen und der italienischen Front. Nach Kriegsende hielt er sich bis 1923 in Salzburg auf, wo er 1919 mit Anton Faistauer die Künstlervereinigung „Der Wassermann“ gründete und deren Präsident wurde. Harta an der Gründung der Salzburger Festspiele mit beteiligt. 1921 erhielt er die Große Silberne Staatsmedaille. Offenbar war er auch Schüler am Bauhaus in Weimar: Die 1919 veröffentlichte Jahresmappe der Gesellschaft für vervielfältigende Kunst in Wien, „Studierende des Bauhauses“ enthält seine Lithografie „Badende“. 1926/27 reiste er nach Paris und erhielt das Ehrendiplom der Internationalen Ausstellung in Bordeaux. Weitere Ehrungen: 1929 Österreichischer Staatspreis und 1934 Ehrenpreis der Stadt Wien. 1928 bis 1935 war Harta Mitglied im Hagenbund. 1939 bis 1950 war Harta im Exil nach England, wo er an einem College unterrichtete. Danach zog er nach Sazburg. Gusti Wolf wuchs zeitweise bei Felix Albrecht Harta und seiner Famile auf. Hartas Tochter Eva Wick lebte als Grafikerin in den USA. Harta war in frühen Jahren mit den Oskar Kokoschka, Egon Schiele und Albert Paris Gütersloh bekannt und stand dem Expressionismus nahe. Er war mit Gustav Klimt befreundet. Hartas spätere Werke, weisen in Richtung des Nachimpressionismus. Seine Themen waren vor allem Landschaft und Stillleben, Porträt und Genre.

The Austrian painter Felix Albert Harta studied architecture at the Technical University of Vienna. In 1905, he went to Munich and switched to painting. His teacher at the academy was Hugo von Habermann. He went on study trips to France, Belgium, Spain and Italy and exhibited at the Salon d'automne in 1908. Harta then lived in Vienna and took part in World War I as a volunteer. Gustav Klimt advised him to apply as a war painter at the k.u.k. Kriegspressequartier (Imperial and Royal War Press Office). In April 1917, he became a member of the art group there; deployments on the Russian and Italian fronts. After the end of the war, he stayed in Salzburg until 1923, where he founded the artists' association "Der Wassermann" with Anton Faistauer in 1919 and became its president. Harta was involved in founding the Salzburg Festival. In 1921, he received the Große Silberne Staatsmedaille (Great Silver State Medal). Apparently, he was also a student at the Bauhaus in Weimar: the annual folder published in 1919 by the Gesellschaft für vervielfältigende Kunst (Society for Reproducing Art) in Vienna, "Sudierende des Bauhauses” (Students of the Bauhaus), contains his lithograph "Badende" (Bathing). In 1926/27, he travelled to Paris and received the honorary diploma at the international exhibition in Bordeaux. Further honours: 1929 Österreichischer Staatspreis (Austrian State Prize) and 1934 Ehrenpreis der Stadt Wien (Honorary Prize of the City of Vienna). From 1928 to 1935, Harta was a member of the Hagenbund. From 1939 to 1950, Harta was in exile in England, where he taught at a college. After that he moved to Salzburg. Gusti Wolf grew up at times with Felix Albrecht Harta and his family. Harta's daughter Eva Wick lived as a graphic designer in the USA. In his early years, Harta was acquainted with Oskar Kokoschka, Egon Schiele and Albert Paris Gütersloh and was close to Expressionism. He was friends with Gustav Klimt. Harta's later works point in the direction of post-impressionism. His subjects were mainly landscape and still life, portrait and genre.
