FINE AND RARE YELLOW COMB-DECORATED AND PAINTED PINE 'TREE OF LIFE' BLANKET CHEST, NEW ENGLAND, EARLY 19TH CENTURY

The six-board chest having a rectangular top with canted edge and rabbet joinery: the rectangular hinged top opening to an interior fitted with a till above a conforming case, the case sides ending in boot-jack feet; the chest painted all over in yellow faux-wood grain with a stylized flowering tree motif on the front and the lid embellished with a stylized weeping willow.
Height 22 ½ in. by Width 45 in. by Depth 15 ¼ in.

Condition Report:
In overall very fine condition. Wear, minor discoloration, and losses consistent with age and use. One of the tenants from the till lid is lost.
