The fossil is a Perisphinctes Ammonite from Madagascar, dating from the Jurassic Period, 150 million years old.
The plate on which it has been mounted is Natural Black Limestone, carved with the tail of a Comet.
As can be seen in the photographs, it can be hung in both orientations.
Size: Ammonite 13 cm diameter, and Limestone Plate 60 cm x 24 cm & 1. 5 cm thick.
