Comprising an exquisite lacquered plaque, the outer borders modeled as a bamboo frame surrounding a scene depicting a child with drum and mother holding samurai helmet before a samurai suit of armor and swords in an interior. The head, hands and feet rendered in applied carved and the image in relief utilizing various gilt lacquer techniques. Of the highest quality. Apparently unsigned. Possibly Edo. Overall 12.5 inches x 15.5 inches (32 x 39.5 cm).
