8vo (204x125 mm.). Engraved frontispiece (loose and with some minor tears to lower margin), additional engraved title and with 14 engraved plates by “Phiz”, Hablot K. Browne (complete, some minor spotting).
Full red morocco binding, boards with gilt frame, inner gilt dentelles, richly gilt spine in compartments with black and green title labels, gilt edges (signed [George] Bayntun bindery, Bath), only minor wear. Red cloth case, partly faded and slightly worn.
First edition, first issue with two (of 3) requisite first issue points, p. 213 mispaginated as 113 and the word “'affetcionately” on p. 134, line 12.
