These badges were issued during the war by various societies to raise funds in support of charities associated with the war effort. This particular one was issued to support England's efforts on the Western Front, which was a very important cause. In addition to raising money, it played a crucial role in maintaining British support for the war. These pins, in effect, served as subtle pieces of propaganda. Overall, they represent a significant part of both social and military history.
