FOUR MOULDED AND POLYCHROME-PAINTED QAJAR-REVIVAL POTTERY TILES Iran, first half 20th century Comprising two sets of matching spandrel tiles, painted in polychromes on a white ground, depicting a typical Qajar topos of a banquet scene in a courtly interior with minor variations, all four tiles showing a dancer in the middle surrounded by musicians playing typical Iranian instruments like the kamancheh (bowed string instrument), the daf (frame drum), and a pan flute, each composition set within a decorative border with fish on green ground on one set and with almond-shaped petals on turquoise ground on the latter, each tile 38cm x 32.5cm.Click here to share:
