Signed "POVO" in the lower right-hand register. Francisco Povo was one of the main representatives of Art Deco in Valencia, alongside figures such as Pascual Capuz, Luis Dubón and Josep Renau. A connoisseur of Parisian artistic circles, he was very versatile and worked as a set designer, illustrator and easel and fan painter, his best-known works being the illustrations for Blasco Ibáñez's novels for the publishing house Prometeo.
