Broadside Portrait of the White Star Clipper Ship "Miltiades", departing England with Cliffs of Dover behind, oil on canvas, signed lower right and dated 1872, in modern gold matched corner frame with a rope theme, OS: 30 3/4" x 42 3/4", SS: 23 1/4" x 35 1/4". Cleaned and relined with some retouching. "Miltiades" was British iron hulled clipper, built in 1871 by Walter Hood & Co. Aberdeen for Aberdeen White Star Line (George Thompson & Co). Broken up in 1905.
