FREE-BLOWN AND PRESSED WHALE OIL SPARKING LAMP, colorless, ball-form font raised on a four-step base with extended rounded corners, rough pontil mark, wafer construction. Fitted with a period tin and cork single-tube drop-in burner marked "PATENT". Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. and probably others. Second quarter 19th century.
Condition: Good condition overall with a small chip to the edge of the mouth, moderate chip to the table ring. Additional scattered flaking/roughness to the base edge, as made.
Size: 3 7/8" H to top opening, font 2 1/8" D, 2 1/8" SQ foot.
