American, 19th century, hand colored. This rare 1864 presidential election image for third party candidates General John C. Fremont for President and General John Cochrane for Vice President, were nominated by the Radical Republicans. Bust portraits of both candidates circled by rocaille wreaths, the background adorned with patriotic symbols of American flags and an eagle.
Frame: 19.6 x 15.6 in. (49.8 x 39.6 cm.)
Condition Report: Color image seems to be in good condition and the wide margins show some shades of foxing.
